Privacy Notice
How we handle your family's information.
Bedtime Worlds is a parent-owned app in development. This notice explains what we collect today for our launch list, and the principles we are building the product around.
Last updated: 30 July 2026 · Version 1.0
1. Who we are
Bedtime Worlds is an app that helps a parent turn the real events of their child's day into an illustrated bedtime story. Accounts belong to adults. Children do not sign up, log in, or use the app on their own.
Bedtime Worlds is responsible for the information described in this notice.
2. Information we collect today: the launch list
Right now, the only thing we collect is what you give us when you join the launch list on our homepage. That is:
- Your email address. An adult's email address, normalized so we do not create duplicate entries.
- The time you signed up, the version of the consent language you agreed to, and which form on the page you used.
We do not ask for your name, your child's name, your child's age, a photograph, or anything else about your child in order to join the launch list. We do not collect location data, and we do not run advertising or behavioral analytics trackers on this page.
We use this only to email you about the launch and development of Bedtime Worlds, and to invite you to help shape the product. Every email includes an unsubscribe link. We do not add you to unrelated marketing. Our lawful basis is your consent.
3. Information the app will collect at launch
The app is still being built, so this section describes intended design rather than a shipped product. We expect to handle:
- Account information for the parent: email address and authentication details.
- Daily summaries you record or type, describing what happened in your child's day.
- Story world and character choices, including a hero name or nickname you choose and the illustrated character you approve.
- Generated stories and illustrations saved to your library, plus the fictional continuity of your world.
- Basic technical and diagnostic data needed to keep the app working and secure, such as crash reports.
- Purchase records if you subscribe, handled by the app store. We do not receive your full payment card details.
4. Children's information
Bedtime Worlds is designed for a parent to use on behalf of a child aged roughly 3 to 8. There is no child signup, no child login, no child-facing chat, and no child-facing purchases. Any information about your child reaches us only because you, the parent, chose to provide it.
We aim to collect as little about a child as the product needs to work. A first name or nickname and a description of how they want to appear as a hero is enough. We do not ask for a birthdate, address, school, contact details, or a child's own email address.
You control this information and can view or delete it from your account at any time.
5. Photographs and character creation
We do not ask for photographs of children, and the app does not accept them. Your child's hero is created entirely from a description you provide: hair, eyes, a distinctive detail, and what they are like.
From that description we generate three illustrated character concepts for you to choose from. The one you approve becomes their hero and stays consistent across every story. The concepts you do not choose, and temporary processing files, are deleted.
We do not perform facial recognition, identity verification, or any form of biometric matching, and we hold no images of your child.
6. Voice recordings
Speaking is the fastest way to share the day, but it is optional; you can always type instead. Recording happens only when you start it. The app does not listen in the background.
A recording you make is transcribed to text so a story can be written from it. Our intended design is that the original audio is deleted after transcription, and the app does not create a voice print or voice model of you or your child.
7. Story memory and real-life events
Families can choose a persistent world where stories continue night after night. That memory is designed to hold fiction: your child's heroic identity, their companions, the places they have been, and the quests they have finished.
The real-life details you share are used to write tonight's story. They are not intended to be retained as part of the persistent world's memory, so the app does not build a running diary of your child's private experiences.
You can also decide that a particular story stays a one-off, and nothing from it joins your world. Finished stories you save remain in your library until you delete them, and deleting a story is intended to remove its saved text and illustrations.
8. How we use AI, and what we do not do with your stories
Bedtime Worlds uses AI models to transcribe your summary, write the story, and create illustrations and optional narration. Some of this processing happens through third-party model providers acting as our service providers.
We do not use your private family stories, summaries, photographs, or recordings to train AI models, and we intend to contract with providers on terms that prohibit them from doing so with your content.
9. What we never do
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not show advertising in the app.
- We do not build behavioral advertising profiles of parents or children.
- We do not train AI models on private family stories.
- We do not offer purchases to children inside the reading experience.
- We do not add launch-list subscribers to unrelated marketing.
11. How long we keep information
Launch-list email address
Until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, or a reasonable period after launch if the list is retired.
Unchosen character concepts
Deleted after you approve a character.
Voice recordings
Deleted after transcription.
Daily summaries
Kept only as long as needed to create and deliver the story, then deleted rather than added to world memory.
Saved stories and world memory
Until you delete them or close your account.
Backups
Deleted content may persist briefly in encrypted backups before expiring.
12. Your choices and rights
You can unsubscribe from launch emails using the link in any email we send. In the app, you will be able to view and delete saved information, delete individual stories, reset or delete a story world, and close your account.
Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to access a copy of your information, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to certain processing, withdraw consent, or lodge a complaint with your data protection authority. We will not treat you differently for exercising these rights.
To make a request, reply to any launch-list email you receive from Bedtime Worlds.
13. Security
We encrypt information in transit and at rest, restrict internal access to what staff need to do their jobs, and keep credentials out of client-side code. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot promise absolute security, but protecting family stories is a design requirement rather than an afterthought.
14. Where information is processed
Our providers may process information in countries other than the one you live in. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for those transfers.
15. Changes to this notice
We may update this notice as Bedtime Worlds develops. We will update the date at the top whenever we revise it. If a change materially affects how we handle your information, we will tell launch-list members and account holders by email.
